Is there really anything more relaxing than coming home after a long day and pouring yourself a nice glass of wine or shaking up your favorite cocktail? We don’t think so.
That is why we cannot recommend an in-home wet bar enough. For those who want to have the sublime combination of the comfort of their own home and favorite bar all in one place, this is the answer you’ve been looking for. Plus, you can properly entertain your friends and family without needing to always head to the overpriced bar downtown!
An in-home wet bar is truly the best of all worlds. But it’s important that you decorate it just right in order to make the most of the best bar in town. Here are 9 tips for decorating your in-home wet bar.
First and foremost, you need a location for guests (and yourself!) to relax and place drinks and bar snacks. Yes, we’re talking about the bar counter.
Fortunately, you have ample room for creativity and ingenuity with this bar focal point. You can opt for a classic bar counter, like a breakfast bar, that matches your desired aesthetic or something that is more unique in design. Some in-home bar owners have created counters that look like half of a classic pickup truck! The choice is undeniably yours.
And now you need some pieces that will allow your guests to sit at the bar so they can really relax with their favorite drinks. Choose as many comfortable counter bar stools as you can fit at your counter in order to properly accommodate as many guests as possible.
You can choose the most classic and innocuous counter bar stools or more eye-popping counter bar stools, such as our red adjustable swivel stools! Whichever floats your bar’s boat will undoubtedly be perfect!
As a new in-home bar owner, you need to now name your bar! It can be after your street name, your last name, or something else that’s particular to you. And, once you do, it’s time to display that name with pride in your actual bar. Personalize a bar sign with your bar’s name and hang it in your preferred location in your bar!
Lest we forget decorations that are bar-themed in a bar! These particular decorations could include bottle caps (organized into a bar sign, placed in mason jars on the counter, etc.), tap heads, worn tin signs, and plenty of others! You could even go so far as to design your own bar swag and show them off, like t-shirts and mugs!
You can also reuse your otherwise discarded corks in “cork”y designs, like in cork candle holders, hanging words made of corks, cork coasters, and other cork decorative pieces!
Not all of us have an entire floor in our home to dedicate solely to a bar. If that’s the case for you, that doesn’t mean you can’t have a bar in your home. Instead, you can focus heavily on using your space to your utmost advantage.
Add in pull-out drawers to your counter to fit your liquor bottles. Install shelves on your walls to hold and display bottles, then craft wine glass holders so you can simply slide them in upside down for saving space and boosting aesthetics.
When you’re entertaining your guests, you want them to be able to be entertained! Include some classically fun games and activities, like a karaoke setup, darts, billiards, foosball, shuffleboard, poker, and/or board games. These can add a practical purpose but also an unequivocal heart-warming, cozy, and welcoming element.
No matter how big or small of a bar space you have in your home, simply adding a mirror to it will provide the illusion of extra space. Not only will your bar appear to be larger in size but it also will be given more light and a lustrous appeal.
Whether you consider yourself a wine connoisseur or not, you’ll certainly be needing wine in your bar– and that includes properly storing it. By doing so, you’ll not only be taking great care of all your wine (and your beloved wino guests) but also will be provided an enamoring aesthetic for your entire bar!
We highly recommend a wine fridge to keep certain whites chilled along with a separate storage space for reds. The storage space can vary from a small cabinet to something larger, like a room-adjoining wine cellar!
One of the most integral parts of your in-home bar is its overall color scheme and style. Both of these should efficiently match the overall “vibe” you’re looking to portray. Are you looking for something dark and moody? Try adding pieces of a darker nature that have metal accents.
Or are you looking to make your basement bar a mystical speakeasy? Then choosing popping prints and accessories that perfectly emulate the glamorous yet austere aesthetic of a traditional speakeasy is highly idyllic. Think velvet, dried flowers, and art deco encapsulated by darker walls.
Whichever style you choose, be sure to stick with it and you can then really watch the bar of your dreams come to life!
